Pour une famille, il faut s\u2019attendre \u00e0 payer en moyenne 1300 $ pour la location d\u2019un logement de 3 chambres et plus. Face \u00e0 des prix aussi \u00e9lev\u00e9s, nous n\u2019avons d\u2019autres choix que de couper dans les autres besoins essentiels pour pouvoir conserver un toit sur notre t\u00eate. Parfois, nous devons nous contenter d\u2019un logement trop petit ou insalubre faute de pouvoir nous permettre mieux.<\/p>\n\n<p>Nous vous demandons de mettre en place de toute urgence un contr\u00f4le obligatoire des loyers pour que nous puissions nous loger convenablement sans y passer tout notre budget. Nous ne sommes pas assez prot\u00e9g\u00e9Es contre les hausses trop \u00e9lev\u00e9es\u00a0: nous connaissons tous des amiEs, des coll\u00e8gues ou de la famille qui ne savent pas qu\u2019il est possible de refuser une hausse de loyer tout en conservant son logement. D\u2019autres n\u2019osent pas refuser leur hausse de peur de subir des repr\u00e9sailles de la part de leur propri\u00e9taire. D\u2019autres encore viennent tout juste de signer un nouveau bail et ne savent pas combien payaient les anciens locataires.<\/p>\n\n<p>Nous sommes des locataires a\u00een\u00e9Es, des femmes monoparentales, des personnes racis\u00e9es, immigrantes, des gens sur l\u2019aide sociale ou sans emploi qui ne peuvent plus supporter l\u2019explosion des loyers. C\u2019est sur nos \u00e9paules que repose le fardeau de refuser une hausse de loyer, c\u2019est injuste! Nous vous demandons aujourd\u2019hui de renverser ce fardeau et d\u2019imposer un contr\u00f4le obligatoire et universel des loyers.
